When I was a kid, I remembered that a piece of slice cake and a pair of an ordinary slipper was my greatest source of happiness. Everything that relates to material possessions was best of best gift ever. These small things were so gratifying then and as we age, everything changes and changes.
One night while I was alone in the house looking at the stars contemplating what 2017 had done in my life, I came to recognize the greatest gift that I had ever received. The gift that really stands out for me was the gift of character, gift of positivity, a gift that relates to personal change and development. This greatest gift that I received that I would like to share is a gift of working in progress, a gift that I am still working it on and on, a gift that challenges me over and over again, a gift that I will be working day-by-day.

So, let’s start enumerating the greatest gift I ever received:
Genuine love and friendship
Love is a very simple word, easy to spell-out yet a very strong and controlling word. According to few philosophers,Love is the most powerful emotion a human being can experience. Love is an action word, which means it must be shown.
And the kind of love that I have and my family and significant others, my friends gave and shown to me was such an overwhelming. They understood and supported me all the way through my ups and downs, through happiness and sadness. They celebrate happiness in times of victory, they pushes me harder and accepted me, yet taught me the real meaning and realities of life. And for me, this is the best for me. The transparency of the relationship, I love them and I knew they loved me more than I loved myself.
I don’t need quantity of friends, I preferred quality not quantity. I have few yet they are genuine and I knew they are friends for all seasons.
I admit, I am totally a negative person way back then. I am always afraid to take risk because my negative thoughts keep overtaking. Until one day, I realized my life wouldn’t change if I will dwell the thoughts that aren’t helping. Since then, everyday is a challenge and never been boring because you need to fight yourself just to make and interpret things in a positive and proactive way. Indeed, life gave me a different perspective then. Yes, it’s true that the more you instill positivity to yourself by self-talking, the more you’ll be inspired of what you have in your mind. It’s like a life full of anticipations to embrace with.
Strong Self-worth and decision making
Would you agree with me that a person who are good talker, opinionated, shows strong personality are persons of weak and poor on their oneself? That is me; I am good to others but very poor on myself. It’s so difficult for me to decide and take the moves for my sake. But this year, I conquered and put myself back. I was so happy and thankful for the best support system who never gave up to back me up. Yes, you need a strong support system.
This is my way of releasing my emotions, upgrading and educating myself. One way of changing my routines. Indeed, exploring new things is a life changing. It’s de-stressing.
Little did I know that I could stand in a secluded situation, and never thought that the situation will opened me a door of opportunities. An opportunity that I once dreamt of and that is the opportunity of knowing myself more, contemplating what myself can give more to the life that we are in. I am constantly grateful of all the gifts, a gift of zero costs yet very prevailing gifts I could ever asked for.
How about you? What is the greatest gift you have ever received?
